1. What is RareAntiques.ca all about?

We’re an online (and by-appointment) antiques and vintage store based in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. We curate a one-of-a-kind collection of antiques, vintage décor, mid-century modern lighting, porcelain, jewellery and estate pieces. Each item is hand-selected for its craftsmanship, story and design appeal.

2. Are your items new or used?

All items we sell are pre-owned, vintage, or antique — sold “as is”.

3. How accurately are the items described?

We strive to describe and photograph items as fully and clearly as possible. However, since many pieces are antique/vintage, we cannot guarantee absolute accuracy regarding provenance, maker, year of production, or material composition. We encourage you to review all images and description carefully and ask questions before purchasing.

4. What currency are the prices in?

Prices are listed in Canadian Dollars (CAD) unless otherwise noted.

5. How and where do you ship?

  • Orders are typically processed within 3–5 business days after payment is received.
  • We ship worldwide, using reputable carriers such as Canada Post, UPS, DHL and FedEx.
  • Shipping costs, services, and options (including insurance) will be shown at checkout based on your location, the size/weight of the item and destination.
  • If you have a preferred courier or you’d like to arrange your own pickup, please contact us before checkout.
  • For in-person pickup at our Windsor, Ontario location, appointments are required.

6. What about customs duties, taxes and import charges?

If shipping outside Canada, customs duties, import taxes, brokerage (where applicable) are the buyer’s responsibility, unless you choose a shipping service that includes those prepaid arrangements. We are not liable for delays or extra fees caused by customs or local import regulations.

7. What happens once you ship my item?

We take care in packaging and dispatching your purchase. After it leaves our possession, however:

  • We cannot be held liable for loss, damage, or delay in transit.
  • If you chose an insurance/tracked option, and a claim is needed, we’ll assist you in filing with the carrier.

8. Can I return an item or get a refund if I change my mind?

Due to the nature of antiques and collectibles:

  • All sales are final; we generally do not offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind, colour, size or perceived imperfections.
  • Items are sold “as is”. Minor wear, age-related marks, and character are part of antique/collectible value.
  • In exceptional cases, we may issue store credit at our sole discretion — for example, if the item received is significantly different from the online description or has a major undisclosed defect. Requests must be made within 5 business days of receiving your order.
  • If a store credit is approved:
    • The buyer may be responsible for returning the item.
    • Credit will be issued as a digital code that can be applied toward future purchases.

9. What if an item arrives damaged or is lost in shipping?

  • We do our best for secure packing.
  • RareAntiques is not liable for damage, delay or loss after the item has been handed to the shipping carrier.
  • If you purchased a tracked/insured shipment and something goes wrong, we will assist in filing a claim with the carrier. We strongly recommend selecting an insured, tracked shipping option for high-value or delicate items.

10. What payment methods do you accept?

We support multiple payment methods including: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Shop Pay and more.

11. Can I visit in person?

Yes — we welcome in-person visits by appointment only at our Windsor, Ontario location. Contact us to schedule your visit. Please note that for in-person purchases, all sales are final (no returns or exchanges).

12. How do I ask questions or get more information about a piece?

Feel free to reach out via email at store@rareantiques.ca with your questions, order number, or any images you’d like to see. We’re happy to provide additional photos, condition reports or shipping options.
